DATES: Leaving Sunday morning, March 30th

Returning Saturday afternoon, April 5th (2008)

 

COST: $450 per person (half price, or $225 for college students)

Includes Round-trip Air (Non-stop Phil to New Orleans),

All Meals (except 1 lunch and 2 dinners),

This Wednesday Study:  “A More Perfect Union” Senator Obama on Faith & Race

 

On March 26th, at 7:00 pm, Limestone Presbyterian Church in Wilmington invites you to watch Senator Obama’s speech on faith and race and then discuss it. A national newspaper reported that “Groups Respond to Obama’s Call for National Discussion About Race,”   No matter what your party affiliation or your political persuasion, the conversations about race that have been elicited by the campaign are important. The Presbyterian General Assembly study paper, Facing Racism: A Vision of the Beloved Community, is helpful background reading.   On April 2nd, the Wednesday Group will discuss The Power of Forgiveness” a powerful documentary film that will be on PBS-TV, channel 12, Sunday, March 30th, 8:00 p.m.  Join us!

Session I “The Friendship of Science and Religion”

Session II “Can a Scientist Pray?”

 

                        Session III “Can We Believe in a Destiny Beyond Death?” 

 

You may attend one or all of the sessions. 

 

These lectures are free, open to the public

and will be held in Westminster’s Community Hall 

located at 1506 W. 13th Street, Wilmington, DE.

Sunday, April 6, Dr. Polkinghorne will preach at our worship services (9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.)

 

·       For 25 years, Dr. Polkinghorne had a distinguished career as a Cambridge physicist before becoming an Anglican priest in 1982 

 

·       Queen Elizabeth II knighted Dr. Polkinghorne in 1997 for distinguished service to science, religion, learning and medical ethics 

 

·       In 2002, Dr. Polkinghorne was awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress toward Research or Discoveries about Spiritual Realities

 

Beginning Tuesday, March 25, a few of Dr. Polkinghorne’s books will be available for purchase at Westminster Presbyterian Church (302-654-5214) during normal business hours (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
