Deepest Condolences

It is with deep sadness and regret that we inform you of the death of Deborah Elaine Taylor, sister of our Associate Executive Presbyter, Jackie Taylor. Deborah passed away on April 12, 2008, in Washington, DC. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 17, at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Washington, DC. Viewing is at 10:00 am, services will be held at 11:00 am. God Bless.

Limestone’s Musical Benefits Meeting Ground on April 20th

“Moses and the Freedom Fanatics," a 40 minute musical about the story of Moses, will be performed by the children and youth of Limestone Presbyterian Church! The musical will be presented for the public on Sunday, April 20th, at 2:00 p.m. There will be an offering to benefit Meeting Ground’s ministry with the homeless. “Moses and the Freedom Fanatics," written by Presbyterian Hal Hopkins, is an exciting musical drama based on the Exodus story. The play opens with a grand procession of slaves that disturbs King Pharaoh's quest for a good night's sleep. From that point onward, the action begins! The slaves get organized and Moses emerges as the leader of the people. The dialogue, spiced with humor throughout, tells with clarity and strong role characterization the story of the Exodus. The music includes lamentations of the slaves, a song cleverly portraying the plagues cast on Egypt, and a final song of triumph. MONTREAT YOUTH CONFERENCE TRIP

New Castle Presbyterian Church will be taking a group of youth to the Montreat Youth Conference in North Carolina, July 20-26. We will be traveling by vans (10 hours). Chaperones are Nancy Rowland, Pastor of New Castle Presbyterian Church; Jim Moseley, Executive Presbyter; and Jackie Taylor, Associate Executive Presbyter. There are spots for five (5) youth from presbytery churches. The cost is about $650, depending upon the size of the group. Scholarships are available. The deadline is April 30. Apply to Nancy Rowland at ncpcpastor@verizon.net. Montreat Youth Conference is a super experience! Meet other Presbyterians from all over the nation, and bond with kids from your own presbytery! Hope you can come!

2008 Camp/Conference Scholarships

The Leadership Development Unit will award a $100.00 scholarship to any youth under 18 who wish to attend a Christian-based camp or conference. A member congregation of NCP must be the sponsor of each applicant. All recipients will be asked to provide a brief report on their experience, such as a few sentences and a photo or two, which may be used in Presbytery communications. Photographs may be used on the Presbytery website. Payment will be made to the sponsoring church or directly to the camp or conference. A total of 50 scholarships will be available.

Scholarships for adults 18 and over to attend conferences will continue to be available. Applications should be made in writing to the Leadership Unit. Adult applicants will also be asked to provide a brief report and photo on their experience.

"Get It" Packets

The Presbytery office has packets which are available to the churches from Heifer International and are the "Get it" Student Packs for middle school students grades 6-8. They are free of charge. Please contact Donna Scully at (302) 366-0595 or email dscully@ncpresbytery.org to arrange pick-up.

Invitations to Check out Pastors' Solar Homes in Middletown and Wilmington

Pastor Scott Burkley of the New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Middletown and Pastors Bruce & Carolyn Gillette of the Limestone Presbyterian Church in Wilmington have both recently installed solar panels on their homes. At the March Presbytery meeting, Scott and Bruce invited interested people to come check out their solar projects. They are wonderful ways to better care for God's creation and help counter global warming. It is fun to see the electrical meter go backwards on sunny days.
