Fifth field report from Mission Team in Louisiana
I am actually writing my Friday report Saturday morning while waiting for my flight out of New Orleans. I think we were all dragging a little on Friday. We have worked hard all week and we are worn out. Both teams were very encouraged with the progress we have made this week. The St. Roch St group said that you might not notice any great differences in the house where they were working but they spent the week cleaning out grout, hanging cabinets, putting on molding and trim, and caulking. Their house is that much closer to dedication time.
The Piedmont house where I was working saw more siding go up on Friday. We are told that there won't be any volunteer groups working there for the next couple of weeks but the electricians will come next week and then the inspectors. After that things will get very busy right at the time that many volunteers will be arriving in New Orleans. We were told that there would be at least two crews there then with some doing dry wall, others putting in windows, while others do the siding. We were told our house was probably two months or so away from completion. We look forward to receiving the announcement that the house is complete. Last night we had a lengthy devotion where we heard the impact that the week had made on the lives of those who have come to New Orleans to volunteer. Without a doubt we have all been touched and feel blessed that we have been able to serve the people of New Orleans in this manner. Many are talking about our next trip. The two pictures are of the different work groups at the homes where they worked.
